Start Date: 01 Dec 06
End Date: 01 Dec 09
Status: In Progress
Lakeshore Engineering Services, Inc. was retained by the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department to perform this design/build project to provided in-place rehabilitation of existing sewers on the East Side of Detroit. Labor, materials and equipment were provided by Lakeshore to fully perform the full scope of the rehabilitation work.
Initially, television inspection and cleaning of circular and non circular storm and sanitary sewers was performed for sewer lines ranging from 8 to 120 inches in diameter. Cleaning was performed utilizing mobile high pressure water jetting equipment. Extraction and disposal of sludge and debris then followed by the removal of intruded roots from within the pipelines and the trimming of all protruding taps to achieve a smooth lining of sewers. A detailed inspection of the sewer was subsequently performed to locate breaks, obstacles, and service connections through the use of closed circuit television cameras. Sewer rehabilitation was then performed by the relining methods of cured in place pipe (CIPP), slip lining or pipe bursting.
Lakeshore was also responsible for the construction management and oversight, as well as the complete design utilizing in-house resources. All field investigations, earthwork activities, manholes installations, deep sewer repairs, site restorations, quality control and testing services were also performed by Lakeshore.
The project is progressing on time, within budget and without any safety incidents
