Start Date: 01 Feb 08
End Date: 31 Dec 09
Status: In Progress
Task Order 8 is located in Baghdad, Iraq. This project was awarded in February of 2008, and is the largest project to be awarded to the Lakeshore HERC Division.
The work for this project entails planning, developing and installing a complete recruit training center at the Baghdad Police College. When completed next year, the new facility will have a total of 19 buildings for training and housing Iraqi Police. The new $35 million facility will accommodate 2000 recruits and 200 instructor staff. There will be nine student barracks, four instructor barracks, one laundry, one dining facility, two large classroom buildings, one multi-purpose facility and one administration building.
The new campus will also have a large parade field and soccer field. “This represents a giant leap forward for the Iraqi Police,” said U.S. Army Major General Michael Jones, director general of the Directorate of Internal Affairs that provides assistance in training the Iraqi Police. “The picture we see here is that this new facility will train many Shurta in the months to come who in turn will join other courageous policemen in Iraq who are making a difference for the people of Iraq. This facility will help make the Iraqi Police better.” The construction for this project began in March of 2008.
