Lakeshore UXO (MEC)
Services
Lakeshore Engineering Services, Inc. (LES) can evaluate, investigate
and remediate risks and hazards to populace and environment, relating
to munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) and Unexploded Ordnance
(UXO) that remain at formerly used defense sites (FUDS) and active
bases. LES has currently provided MEC and UXO support for the Base
Realignment and Closure (BRAC) group for the Department of the Army.
Investigational and removal activities can be accomplished in different
ways depending on the type, density and the site and surrounding
conditions. MEC and UXO identification and removal can be accomplished
through the means of geophysical mapping and "mag and flag"
operations and removal through the use of trained and skilled UXO
Technicians and high tech remote equipment for safe removal of MEC.
LES is committed to assist the client to ensure that all objectives
are met to reduce risks from these sites keeping safety to human
health and the environment as our top priority. LES provides turnkey
services by assessing, investigating and providing removal actions
on sites containing ordnance, explosives, range residue, and UXO.
We always ensure that quality and safety are the top priority on
any project small or large. Our goal is to ensure that financial
and technical ability is set in order to have the assigned work
completed within budget and on schedule.
Lakeshore Engineering Services, Inc. can perform a wide variety
of MEC/UXO services and a brief listing is provided below:
- Decommissioning and demolition of explosive contaminated explosive
manufacturing plants and load lines
- Thermal and bioremediation of explosive contaminated soils
- Certification of explosives residue free facilities including
certification of AEDA and Munitions debris metal (5X)
- Munitions Debris and Range Residue Removal
- Geophysical Investigations and Mapping
- Related radiological/UXO contaminated waste
Lakeshore Engineering Services, Inc. can remediate MEC/UXO sites
through the following remedial activities:
- MEC location and avoidance
- MEC identification
- Surface and subsurface MEC removal
- MEC decontamination and destruction
- Thermal and bioremediation of explosive contaminated soil
Lakeshore has acquired a great deal of experience and knowledge
through the combined technical expertise of Lakeshore Engineering
Service's skilled and trained staff comprised of management and
